2019 SENCo Workload Survey

The October 2019 results of the SENCo workload survey - one year on (conducted by the National Education Union (NEU), NASEN and Bath Spa University) have been collated and the message is coming through loud and clear.  As SENCos, we appear to be losing chunks of precious time to facilitate our roles.

A direct quote from the report details that

"The respondents, overwhelmingly, felt that the greatest priority in schools was to provide effective provision for children with SEN…"

Unfortunately, there were many reasons as to why this may be falling by the wayside.  Many SENCo tasks are time-consuming and the SENCo ‘job list’ never seems to shorten.  The report cites the lack of protected/dedicated SENCo time, changing expectations, a ‘broadening remit’ and complex administration tasks as several of the key factors that are responsible for eating away at our time.

If you are a new SENCo, the demands of the National Award for SEN Coordination further impact upon this, and even if you are experienced in the role, there are times where it is a struggle to keep up to date in the ever-changing world of SEN.

Entrust can offer the SENCo Updates, that enable you to stay up to date with current knowledge, gain valuable time-saving tools of the trade, and allow you to network with others in the same role, sharing good practice and SENCo tricks and tips.
