Construction of the £5 million two-storey school, designed by Entrust, has officially begun.

Tamworth’s newest primary school, the new Anker Valley Primary School, which has been designed by Entrust, will take around 52 weeks complete.

The school is due to open in September 2021, The Anker Valley Primary School will have 210 places, As well as a number of classrooms, it will also have playing fields and a playground for outdoor PE, is being built in response to housing developments in the local area creating extra demand for school places.

Nursery and Reception places will be offered in the school’s first year of opening. After that, the school roll will grow year on year.  Holiday, before and after school provision will also be available for working parents and carers

The is project is funded by developer contributions and the government. It will be sponsored by the Fiertè Multi Academy Trust, a local trust that already sponsors five successful schools in Tamworth and Burton and built by at G F Tomlinson on behalf of Entrust.

Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Johnathan Price said: “It’s great to see work starting on-site at Anker Valley, and I will be interested to see how the build progresses over the next few months. With increased development in the Tamworth area, it’s essential that we meet the extra demand for school places that this brings. The school will fill up year on year, creating a unique opportunity for pupils, staff and the Fiertè MAT to shape this brand-new school.”.

John Doherty, CEO of Entrust Support Services, said: “We are proud to see works commence at Anker Valley. This is a complex project that has utilised Entrusts extensive educational building design experience to create an exciting scheme that will benefit the school and its pupils well into the future.  We look forward to working with the school, Staffordshire County Council and G F Tomlinson to complete this fantastic local asset.”
