A family thought they were leaving the area at the end of last term, so we made their daughter a leaver in SIMS. The move didn’t happen – how do I re-admit her?
Within the Pupil/Student records, click New. Type in the child’s surname and click Search. Records matching that surname will be listed. Ensure you highlight the correct record and select Open. The message ‘the selected student is a leaver. Do you want to re-admit the student?’ will appear. Click Yes. Ensure the correct Year, Year Taught In, Class/ Reg Group and Date of Admission are entered and Save. This maintains the history of that child’s records in SIMS.
How do you move between screens in SIMS?
A quick and easy way to move between screens in SIMS (we all tend to have a lot of areas open at the same time) is to use the Window drop down menu. It’s quicker and easier than the backward and forward arrows!
When trying to take Lesson Registration, I am only being offered the AM and PM registration periods – no lessons. How do I resolve this?
Have you completed the Lesson Monitor setup – this is especially pertinent if you have created a new timetable.
Follow the path: Tools | Setups | Lesson Monitor Options | Lesson Monitor Setup.
Ensure the correct Timetable Model has been selected and then follow the on-screen instructions to make sure the software knows which periods are morning lessons and which are afternoon lessons.
I can’t see a member of staff in Personnel even though I entered their details – should I add them again?
This problem is usually related to the employment start date. Within SIMS Personnel, change the Status to All and click Search. Open the record of that member of staff, and, under the Employment Details tab, ensure there is an Employment Start Date.
