Training now available to support the roll out of defibrillators in schools

Defibrillators are a lifesaving piece of equipment when used efficiently and effectively. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a casualty’s chance of survival by 10%.
Mark King, whose 12 year old son Oliver tragically died In 2011 when his heart stopped during a school swimming lesson, has been campaigning for all schools in England to have defibrillators on site. With help from some of Oliver's school friends and former footballer Jamie Carragher, Mr King's mission succeeded.
Now the rollout has started, with the life saving devices being distributed to state schools who don't already have one.
The Department for Education has announced that 20,000 defibrillators will be delivered to almost 18,000 state-funded schools by the end of the academic year. You can find out more about the campaign here.
The next step is ensuring staff are sufficiently prepared to use the device quickly and correctly in an emergency.
Entrust offer a QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF). This is an Ofqual regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills needed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an AED safely in emergency situations.
The course takes half a day to complete and we can deliver the session for groups of up to 24 delegates.
